Respond to two consultations on divorce and embryo storage

The world may have come to a halt due to the coronavirus lockdown but it’s crucial that we continue to speak with a distinctive Christian voice on important issues like life and family.

Two government consultations are due to close on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

There’s not much time left, but the more Christians can respond, the more we can influence the government to protect life and uphold marriage.

Please find out more about these important consultations below and respond as soon as you can.

No-fault divorce bill erodes human rights

The first of these consultations asks about the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Bill, which - if passed - would introduce unilateral no-fault divorce in England and Wales.

This could undermine the human rights of the injured party by imposing divorce on them, as well as harming the rights of children.

We have submitted a response to the Joint Human Rights Committee of the House of Commons. Can you do the same?

Storage and use of human embryos

Proposals to change The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Acts would increase the storage limits for frozen embryos and gametes (eggs and sperm). This poses all sorts of moral and ethical questions, not least because embryo freezing effectively postpones the life of a unique human being.

We have responded to the consultation from the Department of Health and Social Care and encourage you to do the same. You can use our guide to help you.
